- Rebel forces in Libya and human rights activists fear pro-Gaddafi supporters have
gone on a killing spree by executing prisoners days before the opposition was going to
free them.
- Britain's foreign secretary has dismissed reports that the Libyan National Transitional
Council won't be extraditing the killer of a UK police officer outside the Libyan embassy
in 1984.
- Libyan rebels also say they have no intention of extraditing the man responsible
for the Lockerbie airline bombing.
- In the US, 15 deaths have been blamed on Hurricane Irene, with President Barack Obama
warning of further danger.
- Police are yet to release the name of an elderly man who died after being bashed
on a Newcastle train last week.
- NSW Treasurer Mike Baird is forecasting an unpopular state budget next week, with
an expected fall in revenue.
