SA: Escapee suspected of offences while on the run

Adelaide police believe that elusive fugitive ANTHONY JOHN SMITH has committed several
armed robberies since he escaped custody nearly 12 months ago.

Detective Chief Inspector PETER CAMPBELL says police believe the latest offence occurred
in Adelaide's north-western suburbs only three weeks ago.

Insp CAMPBELL says SMITH had been spotted in the past fortnight at an Adelaide city
bus stop by a person known to him, who reported it to police.

But the escapee had disappeared by the time police arrived at the scene.
